AFABW Helps Bring the Holiday Spirit to Hollywood

December 11, 2005 – Los Angeles, CA: Artists For A Better World participated in the “2nd Annual Mixed Holiday Party,” a multi-cultural holiday celebration produced by The Hollywood Studio District Neighborhood Council and additional local neighborhood councils. The event was a toy drive for underprivileged kids and took place at the Louis B. Mayer Building on Hollywood Boulevard. About 250 participants and attendees of all ages, including children, parents and grandparents, came out to enjoy the festivities. AFABW was pleased to make additional new friends in the community and helped create the holiday spirit.

Artists For A Better World members participated as part of the talent lineup, which was a great joy to Event Producer, Ziggy Kruse, who attributed much of the event’s success to AFABW involvement.

The entertainment was kicked off with the Celebrity Centre Kids on Stage for a Better World, bringing in the holiday spirit with traditional and modern holiday songs. They also read quotes from The Way to Happiness by L. Ron Hubbard. Ziggy Kruse was so moved and inspired she said, “They’re going to make me cry.”

Singer, Richard Arinsberg, performed a Bing Crosby song and told a story about Hanukkah. The LA Unified School District Choir gave a rousing performance. The Lula Washington Youth Dance Group, comprised of a small group of young girls, dazzled the audience with ballet and tap routines. AFABW Founder, Barbara Cordova Oliver, gave a presentation about Celebrity Centre International and AFABW and performed a couple songs. AFABW performing artist, Tom Fair, led both kids and adults in square dancing.

And what would a holiday party be like without Santa? Mr. Claus handed out crayons, books and toys to the kids who anxiously waited in line to see him.

The Celebrity Centre Choir performed popular holiday songs while festively dressed in caroling costumes. They invited audience participation by bringing out a box of percussion instruments and had the children in the audience join them in a couple songs.

AFABW member, Curtis Jones, was painting attendee’s portraits in colored pencils. The show was closed by AFABW members comprising the New Age Brotherhood band, lead by Tom Little, along with Val Gameiro, Cory Montoya, and Jesse Turner.

There was also an AFABW table set up with information about Artists For A Better World activities, projects and events.
