Peace Fair – Gandhi & King

March 29, 2003 – Huntington Beach, CA: Artists For A Better World International participated in the “Planet Peace for Life – Fair and Expo.” This event was organized by the Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science as part of the 6th annual 64-day “Season for Non Violence,” which has a purpose to unite people who are creating a non violent community. The free “Planet Peace for Life – Fair and Expo” included speakers, workshops, exhibitors, food, products & services, children’s activities and a bookstore all focusing on practicing the joint principles of non violence. Also included were various artists, organizations and religious groups who came together to share their viewpoints of creating a better world. Artists For A Better World (AFABW) Founder, Barbara Oliver, who was a featured artist at the Expo, performed several songs, including “Planet of Peace.” Ms. Oliver cited the following quote from L. Ron Hubbard as a source of inspiration: “On the day when we can fully trust each other, there will be peace on Earth.” Ms. Oliver emphasized, “Artists can improve conditions in our world by using their creative powers to support community service activities that are creating positive changes.” The “Planet Peace for Life – Fair and Expo” was the culmination of over 2 months of events at the Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science as part of “A Season for Non Violence.” “A Season for Nonviolence,” January 30 – April 4, is a national 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that non violence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities. Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., (image above) this international event honors their vision for an empowered, non violent world. All over the United States, and in many other countries, community volunteers have created partnerships to promote the Season. Civic, religious and community leaders and organizations joined together to support and promote A Season for Nonviolence which runs annually from January 30 through April 4. The organizer for the Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science participation in “A Season for Non Violence” is Reverend Peggy Price who said, “The positive energy at the Peace Fair was contagious! People enjoyed themselves and I know they went away richer in their hearts for the experience.” Grateful acknowledgement is made to L.Ron Hubbard Library for permission to reproduce a selection from the copyrighted works of L.Ron Hubbard.
