She has said regarding her Groundbreaking Girls project that began simply as a search for inspiration after she lost her husband from a tragic motorcycle accident, “Through my work, I hope to capture something of the spirits of these women who would certainly be cheering us on today” and that “My hope is that through my artwork, I can help build a better world by reminding women and girls of their true heritage while honoring the lives of the women themselves. I believe their ideas never died and through us, they have the power to live on. It’s our responsibility to find these sparks inside ourselves. As we reach back in history and are inspired by those who came before, we can, through the way we live our own lives, empower the confidence and bravery of future generations.
