Call for Poetry – The Art Day Games 2016
July 5th, 2016 — Los Angeles, CA: Four years ago, the first Poetry Competition of the Art Day Games was held on Art Day, 2nd Friday in August at the residence of Artist For A Better World International member Becky Mate. The competition and its judging were administered by the Poet Laureate of Sunland-Tujunga, Dorothy Skiles.
Similar to the Olympics, four years later it is time again for the Poetry Competition. The theme this year is “Celebrate Poetic Moments.”
Becky Mate, Founder of international Art Day, has opened the competition up to Artists For A Better World, in the hopes of receiving entries from poets in nations around the globe.
1. Email a poem of 20 lines or less to ArtDay@eathlink.net. Since the idea is to create a new poem for this event, each poem must contain these three words somewhere in the poem: Verb (or form of this verb) “celebrate”, Adjective: “poetic”, Noun: “Moment” or “Moments.”
2. Include your name, address and email. All participants receive a small prize, where not prohibited. There is no entry fee.
Mate says, “For such a small vessel, poetry expresses volumes. Wherever your creativity leads you, have fun on Art Day, the second Friday in August. It is your day, as a member of the global community of artists of all disciplines.”
