Operation Help: Mail Art for 9/11

Sept 23, 2001 – Hollywood: “Operation Help” was featured throughout the past eight days as part of the AFABW Int “Joy Of Creating” International Arts Festival. Hundreds of positive, inspirational cards were created by young and old alike, with pencils, crayons, paints and individual caring.

Inspirational messages were written in English, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. These are being sent to the emergency workers in NY and Washington, DC as a show of inspiration and support.

Following are some of the messages:

  • “To the firemen, from a fireman’s daughter and family.”
  • “One heart, lots of love.”
  • “U showed us.”
  • “We love you, New York.”

George Alger, President of Artists For A Better World International said, “Like millions of others throughout the world, we are reeling from the tragedy in NY and DC. This gesture of help is a way that some of us can express our support of the rescue workers.”
