Poetry: Cycle

Cycle
The circles we move in
Fuse,
Unbroken,
Like Monet’s water lilies,
Floating eternally,
In rotations like the planets
Orbiting around the sun.
You can only move so far
Before you see
How connected you are
In this path of circuitry,
How each day is different than the last,
Softest brushstrokes of color gracing skies
Under which we are all united,
Lives overlapping
With art that leaves an eternal mark,
An imprint forever left on the heart.
History is known to repeat,
And vicious cycles
Are like the gods of old
Seeking sacrifices
To be appeased.
But we can disentangle
Ourselves
From these cycles that mangle
The lives we’ve known.
We can change the world
For the better
By bringing peace,
Enjoining others in our circles
Of friends
Like daisy chains
Learning to communicate
Through love and grace.
We all feel,
And with art,
We heal.
