My Love Story

By Kay D Weeks

Earth love,
I never have to ask you to touch me:
Hovering storm-cloud embrace
with white hair like wind-riffled sand
and the deep roar of your baritone
thrust to shore, withdrawing to silent gruff.

Your star-white shine I’ll want
for brief face-blush in winter, snow,
but never in summer! More…
Why you put up with my lady fickle
I’ll never understand–Dear,
you pick the time, and always know
just when to disappear to diagonal,
that sly and retiring slant on sand.

And one more enchantment, Love,
when you send me a feathered gift
that lingers on a wire, then flies,
you’ve got me through and through.
