Two Types of ‘Artists For A Better World International’ Artists

April 5, 2021 – Los Angeles: Although the term “artist” describes those who create — typically via activities such as drawing, painting, sculpting, acting, dancing, writing, poetry, filmmaking, new media, photography, and music — it all boils down to individuals who use imagination, talent, or skill to create works that may be judged to have an aesthetic value.

To highlight the obvious:

  • Artists have been around as long as there have been creative people
  • They grace our world in myriad ways
  • They make the unfolding of life a better experience
  • And there are AFABW Int artists

To a large extent, the intent of an Artist For A Better World International artist is naturally represented by many artists alive today and who have come before us throughout history.

ARTISTS WHO SEEK TO BETTER THE WORLD

In a general sense, an AFABW Int artist integrates an additional meaning into his or her work: the idea of forwarding a better community, or world, in whatever large or small way that aligns with their heart.

Perhaps it’s directly conveyed through their art, whether by uplifting the culture or through messages in their work.

Alternatively, or concurrently, it may be aligning themselves personally with social betterment organizations that embrace their vision of reducing local challenges or improving their community in helpful ways.

Stated another way, an AFABW Int artist is one who sees the future as an opportunity to continually make things better and does something about it.

What I have found interesting while meeting new artists from around the world is how many recognize that basic intent to be inherently extant in their own lives, even if they had never consciously considered such. In certain instances, it’s like a child encountering a mirror for the first time and recognizing they have a nose. Although, of course it was there all along, they had simply never given it any attention.

THE GROUP: ARTISTS FOR A BETTER WORLD INTERNATIONAL

Hence, there is also the specific organization which takes its name from that same intent beheld innately by so many artists throughout time: Artists For A Better World International.

In the same way a mirror may reflect upon a child the obviousness of their own face, Artists For A Better World International, as a group, calls attention to a truth that is already intrinsically present for so many artists.

In other words, the organization, Artists For A Better World International, articulates that basic intention of creating a better world through aesthetics and actively endeavors to put a spotlight on it.

More specifically, Artists For A Better World International is a network of worldwide artists uniting to make a difference in society.

AN AFABW INT ARTIST

So there are two types of AFABW Int artists:

  1. Any artist who seeks to better their community and/or culture
  2. Those who are part of the group Artists For A Better World International

In fact, number two even includes individuals who may not consider themselves to be practicing artists per se, but who support the group, AFABW Int.

AFABW Int as a group is open to artists and art enthusiasts of all religions, nationalities, creeds, races and cultures who share our beliefs:

  • We believe in a world where good morals are valued
  • We favor art that inspires and helps make the world a better place
  • We support artistic and social improvement programs that are making positive changes in society

By uplifting the culture through aesthetics, by raising the awareness of artists and others about the power the artist has in creating a better world, and by working with and supporting social betterment organizations, AFABW Int and its members are inspiring and making positive changes in the world.

We accomplish our aims by cultivating participation in constructive, inspirational and creative projects as well as working hand-in-hand with community advancement programs.

There is, and has been, a considerable amount of volunteer teamwork to pull off our group productions in the past +20 years: which have included music CDs; poetry anthologies; short story books; visual art calendars; annual celebrations of an international holiday for the arts called Art Day; and of course the numerous AFABW festivals, events, projects and activities that have taken place in Los Angeles, Toronto, London, Johannesburg and have included uncountable many others around the globe.

The group counts among its members, artists and art enthusiasts of goodwill from all parts of the globe who desire to help in the creation of a better world.

To that end, we have recently established an Artists For A Better World International (AFABW Int) Facebook Group, which is about connecting artists online who aspire towards creating positive social change through art.

  • You are welcome to check us out and join us
  • Maybe you’ll find an occasional laugh
  • Perhaps you’ll be inspired
  • Most likely you’ll connect up with old friends or make some new ones
  • What would be most appreciated is if you might share some of your own work

And if you prefer a periodic email update, you are welcome to subscribe to our new Art Line, as well, to keep advised about AFABW news and activities.

Best,
George Alger
