Valentine’s Motown Party

February 14, 2004 – Los Angeles: Artists For A Better World International (AFABW Int) Producer, Tom Fair, co-hosted a Motown Party with fine artist, Piri Mee, at her home. The stately residence has been the scene of a number of humanitarian fundraisers and AFABW Int executive meetings.

Close to 100 people attended the joyous musical celebration on Valentine’s Day. AFABW Int performing artists saluted the legacy of Motown Records and an era when “love” was the order of the day.

Attendant to the Valentine’s Day and Motown theme was the inspirational motif that “Anyone can sing,” an encouragement to all attending to “Let their hair down and activate the musical spirit within themselves.” Attendees contributed to the group creativity either by singing, dancing or shaking a percussion instrument.

AFABW Int members Sylvie Taft and Larry Gorman were featured performers, as well as partygoers from five to eighty-five years old who sang “My Guy,” and “Do You Love Me?” There was also line-dancing to Motown favorites such as “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” and “Dancing In the Street.”

Additional featured performing artists were guitarists Bozz, Steve Sola, Mo Budlong and Kirk Rogers, singer/songwriter Gary Konigsberg and vocalist Shellah Garrett as well as drummer Robin Fair, and vocalist April Fair.

Tom Fair remarked, “There is, in the world, a balance between destruction and creativity; and we at AFABW Int consider it our duty to increase our output of creativity on a daily basis and thus tip the scales in favor of a brighter, kinder and more praiseworthy state of affairs than has ever previously existed.”

Artists For A Better World International is a worldwide network of artists who share a vision of creating a better world through aesthetics. There are affiliated groups in Toronto, Canada; London, England; and in Johannesburg, South Africa, as well as active and contributing members around the globe.

AFABW Int members share a purpose of raising awareness of the importance of building a better world through aesthetics as well as supporting and helping to raise funds for other positive groups that are actively forwarding social betterment.
